The current frontman of Van Halen, David Lee Roth uploaded his latest The New Roth Show on his official YouTube account and shared a never-before-told story about his childhood.

As you will read the story below, David Lee Roth shared the story of how he bought The Beatles’ Second Album.

Here is the story, transcribed by Metalhead Zone:

“First record I bought cost me two full days of pulling weeds and raking up leaves up on Altadena in Christmas Tree Lane.

My mom and dad saw to me that I understood the value of music, and I bought the Beatles records. It was the second record. Okay, I was a little bit late in terms of just being in grade school. Whatever, I was 11 years old and this is the record. This is not like the record this is ‘the record.’

Careful what you teach your kids. A lot of us learned the value of nothing in the price of everything this costs two days of pulling weeds and drinking iced tea from a thermos.”
