Controversy and Axl Rose come side by side since the Guns N’ Roses frontman is one of the most apologetic and bold musicians in the history of rock music. There is an endless list of feuds and fights that involves the notorious rock star and it often includes other celebrities as well.
Despite many of his disputes have been with other rock stars, either about music, or personal differences, there was one time when Guns N’ Roses icon came after a successful actor due to an alleged love triangle. We all know Axl Rose didn’t have many girlfriends in the past but when he did, nearly all of them ended up getting involved in a drama. Let’s take a look into this one with Stephanie Seymour and Warren Beatty.
Axl Rose Had A Turbulent Affair With Stephanie Seymour
When Guns N’ Roses were looking for a person to star in their music videos, choosing famous supermodel Stephanie Seymour was a no-brainer since she was a former Victoria’s Secret Angel and featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Therefore, Seymour featured on two of the most iconic music videos of the band, ‘Don’t Cry,’ and ‘November Rain.’
Thanks to these music videos, Axl Rose met his new love and the passionate relationship between the two started right away back in 1991. Their affection was strong, especially when Rose became deeply attached to Seymour’s young son, Dylan, and tried to be a good father figure for the child.
Approximately two years after Rose and Seymour started dating, they became engaged in February 1993. While they seemed pretty happy with their relationship, their love story didn’t last long as they separated only three weeks later.
After having a relationship for two years, the couple ended things on bad terms as both sides brought up the accusations of violence they claimed to be exposed to, and later, these allegations turned into a lawsuit. Furthermore, Guns N’ Roses frontman accused his former fiance of stealing jewelry of more than $100,000 worth.
Axl Rose Verbally Attacked Warren Beatty On Stage
Prior to her relationship with Axl Rose, Stephanie Seymour was having an affair with Oscar-winning actor Warren Beatty. Since the two lovers met while Stephanie was still dating the brilliant actor, she broke up with Beatty immediately. Yet, Guns N’ Roses icon wasn’t convinced that the things ended between two former partners.
That’s when he publicly came after Warren Beatty during a Guns N’ Roses show in Paris while the band was about to perform ‘Double Talkin’ Jive’ which is the ninth track from their ‘Use Your Illusion I’ album.
Prior to their performance, Axl Rose dedicated the song to a man who likes to play games, who is a parasite, and many more unpleasant things along with these. Of course, Rose revealed the name of this person and it’s Warren Beatty to whom he referred to as a ‘cheap punk.’
Furthermore, the rocker felt the need to mention that Beatty has a family and a baby, yet, he still spends his time on other people due to his lack of knowledge on his own life. The swearing kept on going as Axl humiliated the award-winning actor in front of hundreds of fans and the moment went down the history of the singer’s one of the most controversial moments.
Axl Rose’s controversial speech goes:
“I’d like to dedicate this next song to a man who likes to play games, a man who is a parasite, an old man who likes to live his life vicariously through young people and suck up all their life because he has none of his own. I’d like to dedicate this song to a cheap punk named Warren Beatty.
A man who has a family and a baby but he has gotta spend his time fucking around with other people ’cause he doesn’t know what to do with his own life. Well, listen home-fuck. If you think Madonna kicked your ass, I’m bettin’ my money on Annette, you stupid fucking asshole.”
