There are many reasons behind Black Sabbath icon Ozzy Osbourne’s reputation for being the craziest rockstar ever. The singer has a long list of actions that got him into great trouble, most of which were fueled by his substance addiction. From biting a bat’s head off in the middle of a live performance to drinking his urine, the Prince of Darkness’ level of crazy cannot be compared to any other rockstars.

While most of his stories are about hurting himself, except when he accidentally ate a bat, the singer once took his brutality to his own pets while under the influence. His alcohol addiction took him into dark places, and once, Ozzy Osbourne was found hiding with a gun and a bloody knife after killing his 17 cats. Let’s see how his wife Sharon found him having a meltdown, and it was a wake-up call for the rocker.

Ozzy Osbourne Had A Meltdown And Killed His 17 Cats

In his autobiography, ‘I Am Ozzy,’ Ozzy Osbourne candidly opened up about his alcohol and drug addiction. The rocker revealed his lowest moments in life due to his drunk decisions, and it’s fair to say that alcohol turned Osbourne into a monster quite a few times. Fortunately for him, he’s sober now and feels a great deal of regret for his actions that hurt those around him.

One of the stories included in his memoir was about the time when the Black Sabbath singer got very high and drunk back in 2002. He was so blacked out that he eventually had a nervous breakdown and shot their 17 cats with a shotgun.

The horrible incident happened at the height of his alcohol and drug addictions, and it was his wife Sharon Osbourne who found him hiding under the piano, dressed in a white shirt and clutching a bloody knife, which must have been a scary moment for her.

In his book, Osbourne wrote:

“I was taking drugs so much I was a f*****. The final straw came when I shot all our cats. We had about 17, and I went crazy and shot them all. My wife found me under the piano in a white suit, a shotgun in one hand and a knife in the other.”

While his actions cannot be excused just because he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol, Ozzy Osbourne mentioned several times throughout the book that he deeply regrets his cruelty towards animals. His actions didn’t only cost the lives of 17 innocent cats but also affected Sharon’s mental health.

Seeing her husband lying down under a piano with a knife that has blood all over and a shotgun in his other can definitely traumatized Sharon and Ozzy was blessed enough to have her by his side regardless of his unforgivable behaviors. Being married to the craziest rock star on the planet seems to have its own consequences after all.
