It has been a topic of discussion why Guns N’ Roses hasn’t released a new album in many years. Recently, Slash clarified that they don’t have new songs because they haven’t gotten around to writing any.
Slash left Guns N’ Roses in 1996 because he couldn’t collaborate with Axl Rose anymore. After releasing solo work and joining Velvet Revolver for some time, he returned to Guns N’ Roses in 2015. However, the band didn’t release any new albums after their 2008 album ‘Chinese Democracy,’ which was produced without Slash.
The band is actively touring, singing their classic songs while the fans are looking for a new record. GN’R recently released two new singles, ‘Absurd’ and ‘Hard Skool,’ which were created by Axl Rose when he was working on ‘Chinese Democracy.’
Slash stated that the band hasn’t gotten together to create something new. Instead, they preferred to release these songs that had a great history and meaning. What they did instead was to re-do some parts and add Slash’s contributions.
Here is how Slash described the situation:
“As far as new Guns is concerned, we haven’t even gotten to that point of really in earnest sitting down and writing. We’ve been doing a lot of material that’s been sort of sitting around for a while. So that will be a whole focused endeavor unto itself.”
Here is what he stated about the singles:
“They both have a lot of history. What happened was Axl has all these songs that he recorded at some point along the way. And so Duff and I went in and re-did them, basically. Like, I wrote my own kind of parts to what else is going on, and we just sort of took the drums and re-did everything else.“
