Wolfgang Van Halen recently posted a photo on his Instagram account and celebrated the increasing success of his first solo song ‘Distance’ while wishing that his Pop was there to see him.

As you might recall, Eddie Van Halen passed away on the 6th of October this year after battling throat cancer for more than 5 years. His death has been difficult for everyone and especially his family.

It is widely known that Wolf and Eddie were very close, as they were son and father, bandmates, and close friends. Eddie’s health status broke Wolf’s heart who started writing a song imagining what his life would be without Eddie, while his father was still battling cancer.

As you may know, creating music is an evidence-based therapy and it looks like Wolf has been practicing it too. He wrote ‘Distance‘ when his father was still battling cancer and released it on November 16th, after his father’s passing.

The song achieved critical acclaim and just in some days, it ranked 1st on iTunes. Now, it looks like it ranked 1st in numerous categories on the Billboard charts. Wolf shared the exciting news through his Instagram account and thanked everyone for their support.

Moreover, he stated that he feels thankful as it has been a very difficult time for him, and apparently, creating this song and then seeing people’s positive reaction to it has been very therapeutic. Then, just like many other of his captions, Wolf finished his message by saying ‘I wish you were here to see this, Pop.’

Here’s what Wolf said in the caption of his Instagram post:

“I really don’t know what to say.

I’m blown away by the response to ‘Distance’ and I’m so thankful for each and every one of you. This has been an incredibly difficult time for me, but releasing this song and seeing it resonate with so many has been such a therapeutic experience. Thank you.

I wish you were here to see this, Pop.”

Additionally, Wolf’s mother Valerie Bertinelli also shared her son’s success on her Twitter account and praised her son’s talent. She said that she is very proud of him; of his strength, sedateness, and success. Valerie has posted numerous tweets promoting her son’s increasing success and keeps showing her support every day.

Here’s what Valerie Bertinelli said about her son’s success in her tweet:

I’m just so damn proud of you. Your strength. Your equanimity. Love you so much, sweet boy, to the moon and back.”
