Late Van Halen legend Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang Van Halen was the latest interview guest of Howard Stern’s self-titled show and he cleared the air about Van Halen’s future by explaining if he has any plans about a possible reunion.
As you may know, after Eddie Van Halen passed away, there are many rumors in the industry that Alex Van Halen, Michael Anthony, and Sammy Hagar will reunite and Wolf will replace his dad in Van Halen.
Considering all those speculations, Wolf stated that there would be no Van Halen without his father and he’s not replacing him. While denying the rumors once again, Wolf also admitted that his father would be pissed off seeing him as the lead guitarist of the band.
Let’s check out what he said about the subject first:
“That’s stupid! You can’t have Van Halen without Eddie Van Halen! I’m not my dad, I’m not going to replace him.
I’ve spent my life making sure I’m not like him and I’m my own person. And my dad again, he’d be pissed off, he’d be like, ‘What the fuck are you doing? Go do your shit!”
After putting an end to the speculations, Wolf also shared the story of how he decided to finish his first song in honor of his dad. According to his statement, his first-ever solo single ‘Distance‘ was an unfinished project before the sad tragedy happened. Later on, he decided to finish the song and released as the first song of his album.
Here is what he stated about his song’s release:
“I recorded a bunch of songs, and I have the stuff I want to use for the album. But there’s a bunch of other ideas that are kind of just waiting there to be finished, and ‘Distance’ was one of those.
And when this happened, it was like, ‘Let’s finish it and let’s have that be the first song out and put it out for dad.'”
