The late guitar legend Eddie Van Halen‘s son Wolfgang shared the heartwarming story on Instagram about the voicemail he added at the end of his latest release ‘Distance’ and proved what a special person Eddie was.
The rock music world lost a unique soul when Van Halen’s co-founder and renowned guitarist Eddie Van Halen passed away on October 6, 2020. His son Wolfgang shared the tragic news of his father’s death with a statement he posted on social media platforms.
As you might recall, Wolf Van Halen has been working on his solo album for a while whose release date hasn’t been cleared. However, after the tragic loss he had been through, Wolfgang decided to release the first single titled ‘Distance‘ from his highly-anticipated album to honor his beloved father.
Wolfgang’s ‘Distance’ achieved critical acclaim and ranked as number one in various charts. In his previous statement, Wolf mentioned the importance of this song for his relationship with Eddie since he wrote the lyrics while thinking about how his life would be without the presence of his father.
Recently on Instagram, Wolfgang shared a short statement to respond to one of the most wondered questions about the voicemail included at the end of ‘Distance.’ In the emotion-packed voicemail, Eddie mentioned how much he loved his son and that he was so proud of Wolfgang.
Here’s what Eddie Van Halen stated in the voicemail he left for his son:
“I’m so happy to have you as my son, and so proud of you. I love you so much. Call me if you get a chance. I just want to hear your voice. I love you. Bye.”
Apparently, Wolf received many questions about the voicemail asking what was the special occasion which caused his father to sent him such a lovely message. However, in his recent statement, the young musician revealed that Eddie was a loving father who left messages like that one whenever he called his son. Wolfgang’s story made the fans realized what a unique personality the late guitar legend had one more time.
Here’s what Wolfgang stated in his latest post:
“I’ve gotten tons of questions about the voicemail at the end of the Distance video.
‘What was the context?’
‘A special occasion?’
Nope. He was just that amazing and loving of a father that he felt the need to leave messages like that every time he called me. He was the best.”
