Former Van Halen bassist and current Mammoth WVH founder Wolfgang Van Halen shared a post on his official Twitter page celebrating the first-ever live performance of the band. After Mammoth WVH’s debut concert, fans showed nothing but love for the new band and it looks like Wolf is doing a pretty good job continuing his father’s legacy.
Following the disbandment of Van Halen due to the passing of their lead guitarist, Eddie Van Halen, his son and bassist Wolfgang Van Halen founded his own solo band named Mammoth WVH. Since then, the musician has been doing anything possible to prove himself as a talented artist outside of his former band and legendary father.
Thanks to his successful self-titled debut studio album, Wolfgang Van Halen has been praised by many music critics and fans months after receiving major criticism and endless comparisons to his late father, Eddie Van Halen. Upon releasing a series of successful tracks, Wolfgang announced that his band is going to make its debut as the opening act for Guns N’ Roses‘ newly rescheduled U.S tour.
However, Mammoth WVH announced a surprise show on July 27 at the Bottleneck Night Club in Lawrence, Kan. Even though the concert was announced at the last minute, it was sold out and the club was filled with a cheering audience that couldn’t wait to see the band perform for the first time. Naturally, the setlist featured songs from the band’s debut album and Mammoth WVH opened its first-ever show with ‘Don’t Back Down.’
After the performance, Wolfgang Van Halen shared a post on his official Twitter page revealing a picture from that special night. While celebrating his band’s debut live show, the musician thanked every single person who showed up to the concert and shared the evening with them.
In his Twitter post, Wolfgang shared:
“Show number 1 is officially in the books. Thanks so much for coming out and sharing this special night with us, folks. I won’t forget it.”
The supportive fans saw the opportunity and shared dozens of posts after Wolfgang Van Halen’s tweet, stating how proud they are with the musician he has become after everything he has been through. In addition to this, many fans stressed the importance of his music for his late father and how he’s proudly watching over his son.
A fan tweeted:
“WOLFIE! For all of us fans who have been hearing the name ‘Wolfgang Van Halen’ since the day you were born in the early ’90s, to NOW see you on your OWN tour, writing your OWN songs, answering to NO ONE, and continuing on an amazing legacy, we could not be PROUDER of you tonight!”
Another fan shared:
“You deserve it. I’m sure your dad is up in heaven watching and is the proud papa. And your momma Valerie Bertinelli is also super proud. As are all of us, your fans… May you have many more awesome shows! Keep being you because you are amazing!”
