Yngwie Malmsteen recently posted a tweet to reveal why he considers himself a ‘real rock star.’ The guitarist also explained the meaning behind this statement, defying the common belief about rockers.

The neoclassical guitar player in heavy metal, Yngwie Malmsteen, has a successful music career that spans over four decades. Thanks to his innovative guitar-playing approach and astonishing talents, he is regarded among the greatest guitarists.

Recently, Malmsteen posted a tweet addressing the criticism over his use of Marshall amplifiers. While sticking up for his choice of amps, the guitarist also described himself as a true, eccentric, and extreme artist.

In a more recent one of his tweets, Malmsteen also argued that he is a real rock star. He then elaborated on his remark, saying that what makes him a rock star is not drinking alcohol.

Malmsteen then revealed he hasn’t been drinking alcohol or consuming drugs for almost two decades, even though some people accuse him of using substances. He then added that he takes vitamins and wakes up at 7 AM every morning to be a real rock icon.

In the Twitter post he shared, Yngwie Malmsteen penned:

“Ok, I’m a real rockstar. Do you guys want to know how much of a real rockstar I am? Here it goes. I don’t drink alcohol! It’s been 17 years since I don’t smoke or do drugs (even though people like to accuse me). I take my vitamins, and guess what? I wake up at 7 AM every morning.”
