Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst is facing backlash from his fans after publicly supporting Elon Musk.
Durst posted a picture on X showing himself standing in front of his Tesla. The caption read, “Thank you Elon Musk for making a quality X SnapBack. Felt the urge to pull over in my Tesla model X to spread the love.”
This didn’t sit well with many fans. While Durst disabled comments on his post, numerous people reposted the image with their own messages. One user wrote, “This is an attack on the nu metal community.” Another said, “This shit so disappointing… Like f*ck you.” A third user added, “Late 90s Fred Durst would kick your ass for tweeting this.”
Since Elon Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion, the company has been frequently in the news. Most of the coverage has focused on issues such as mass layoffs, problems with the paid ‘blue check’ subscription, privacy concerns, and the release of the ‘Twitter Files,’ revealing the FBI’s involvement in moderating content
Durst has shown support for Musk on social media before. Two years ago, after Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion, Durst reached out to offer his and the band’s help with the platform. At the time, Durst tweeted, “Good morning, sir. Myself and Limp Bizkit are available for any help you may want or need at Twitter. Happy Holidays.”
Fans and Twitter users have been left confused by Durst’s ongoing support for Musk and the meaning behind his posts.
