Ex-Skid Row Singer Erik Grönwall Opens Up About Struggles In Solo Career

Erik Grönwall recently discussed his solo career after leaving Skid Row during a live stream on his official YouTube channel.

“Okay, let’s start with the bad news,” the singer began. “The company that I did the first vinyl with, they went bankrupt and then I found another company and I paid them and everything.”

He added, “Then, they went bankrupt and took my money with it and then I was like feeling a bit defeated. And then, a friend of mine, the distributor that I’m working with, he was like, ‘I have a connection. I can hook you up.'”

“So, he did and he saved the day. So we will have vinyl ‘Eriksplanations Volume 2’ coming in January. Members, you will have early access as usual,” Grönwall announced.

In October, Grönwall shared a song that was initially meant for a Skid Row album. He explained on Instagram, “In August 2022, my producer Jona Tee and I wrote three potential songs for a new Skid Row album while I was still in the band.”

“Although I don’t think this particular song would have made it onto the album, and since that album definitely won’t happen, I thought it might be fun to share this demo with you all instead,” Erik added.

He also clarified, “Please note that this is a demo Jona and I produced and no Skid Row members are playing on this demo. A special thanks to all the fans who helped me put this video together. Full version on YT.”

Skid Row parted ways with Grönwall in March 2024, following the completion of postponed shows. Grönwall said he left to focus on his health and recovery after battling leukemia and undergoing a stem cell transplant in 2021.

Erik will be joining Michael Schenker on his European tour in the spring of 2025. Schenker is touring for his new album ‘My Years With UFO,’ with Grönwall featured on the song ‘Mother Mary,’ which also includes Slash from Guns N’ Roses.
