In a recent interview with Ryan McCredden of the I-Rock 93.5 radio station, Wolfgang Van Halen talked about his newly-wed wife, Andraia Allsop, and revealed why they had to skip a traditional honeymoon.
The Wedding And Its Aftermath
The couple tied the knot with a ceremony at their Los Angeles home on October 15. Following the wedding, they had a couple of days together at Van Halen’s mother’s house, as he mentioned while talking about his ‘happy place:’
“My happy place has been the past week after getting married. My wife and I went to my mom’s house and picked up two of my mom’s six cats that she has, the two that we are sort of closest with, and we just held up in the bedroom with the cats and played video games for a week. [Laughs]”
2023 Schedule’s Effect On The Honeymoon
The release of Van Halen’s new album, ‘Mammoth II,’ made 2023 a busy year for him. Earlier in the summer, he mentioned having limited breaks, with the wedding week being an exception.
The singer tied the decision to not go on a honeymoon to the same reason by saying:
“We couldn’t really get a honeymoon ’cause we didn’t really have the time. So, hopefully, we’ll be able to do that at some point. So we just had to settle for our ‘honeymoon,’ as we called it. But yeah, that was certainly my happy place this past week. And I’m gonna miss it when I’m on tour.”
Plans For A Larger Family
The wedding date marked not only Allsop and Van Halen’s union but also their eight-year relationship, matching the anniversary of their first date. When asked about plans for a family after all this time, the Mammoth WVH vocalist commented:
“Yeah, we’ll have to see. Honestly, I’ve got my hands full right now, for sure. But certainly, I think that… I would like to. But I’ve gotta figure out my career and stuff first.”
Eddie Van Halen’s Presence At The Ceremony
During the ceremony, which included 90 guests from the couple’s close circle of friends and family, the singer walked down the aisle with his mother, Valerie Bertinelli, to a song Eddie Van Halen wrote for him before his passing in 2020, as reported by People:
“The song that my father had written for me, it’s an instrumental piece called ‘316.’ It’ll be a nice way to include my dad.”
Engagement News
The couple’s engagement became public in 2022 when Van Halen posted a picture of him and Allsop on Instagram with the caption, ‘She said yes!’ Bertinelli expressed her happiness over the news with a comment that read:
“How do I like this a million times? So happy. “
