Poison frontman Bret Michaels recently shared an update regarding a potential Poison reunion tour targeted for 2027 or 2028, addressing his health and future plans in a post on Instagram. This update comes after Michaels experienced a health emergency that forced him to cancel solo shows for surgery, amid rumors that the reunion tour was delayed due to financial demands.
In his message, Michaels reflected on his lifelong battle with Type 1 diabetes and how he maintains a positive mindset despite health setbacks.
“On this Motivational Monday, strap in,” Michaels said. “You know I have lead singer long texting issues. This is going to take a moment. To me, mental motivation is powerful, but also easier said than done. As a Type 1 diabetic from the age of six years old, I had come to a crossroads in my life at a young age. I could either succumb and be a victim or choose to be victorious, knowing I was about to become a lab rat and human pincushion…and let’s be honest, the technology for diabetes was not great in 1969, but the use of scare tactics was.”
He went on to express gratitude for his family and friends, who supported him and motivated him to stay active despite his condition.
“But the one thing that helped me was my parents, my sisters, my family & friends,” Michaels continued. “Although they did not understand the disease, as it is unbelievably complicated and a daily balance, the one thing they knew was to motivate me to go the extra mile and be prepared to achieve things. Just simply to go play football, I needed to have a care kit. To ride my motorcycle, I had to be prepared. But true warriors find a way to have fun and get it done.”
Michaels also discussed how he has consistently managed to overcome various health challenges throughout his life.
“Throughout my life, I’ve hit a series of crossroads of unbelievably great moments and, no doubt, rough health domino effects,” Michaels added. “But thanks to the grace of God, good medical attention, and family, friends & fans keeping my spirits high, I always get right back on the horse.”
He then shared his goals for returning to the stage, specifically mentioning the timeline for a Poison reunion.
“Just like now, setting a goal to come back and rock the stage for a few special shows, and truly hoping to see an all-original Poison reunion in either 2027 or 2028, depending on how things go health-wise,” Michaels stated.
Additionally, Michaels shared a lighthearted story about a recent minor injury he sustained while working out.
“But this will make you laugh,” Michaels wrote. “Yesterday, in the midst of the Steelers – Patriots game, I decided to work out hard. I put my weights lined up in a circuit-training routine on the floor. About 15 minutes in, in a full strut, I kicked my foot into the 20-pound weights, breaking two toes. Painful? Yes. Did I stop working out? No lol.”
He concluded his message with an encouraging note to his followers.
“Here’s to all of us living full throttle, with the scars to prove it, and finding inner motivation at the lowest & most painful times,” Michaels concluded. “Love you, my friends. Have a great day!”
The singer’s new timeline arrives after a turbulent year for the band, marked by canceled dates, stalled reunion plans, and a public dispute over money between Michaels and his longtime bandmates.
Poison was formed in 1983, and the classic lineup has remained Bret Michaels, C.C. DeVille, Bobby Dall, and Rikki Rockett. That four-decade run of stability is part of why fans have pushed so hard for an all-original reunion.
The band’s last major run together was The Stadium Tour in 2022, when Poison hit the road with Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard. The trek was widely seen as a strong farewell-adjacent victory lap, which made the silence that followed all the more frustrating for fans.
In early 2026, reporting said Poison’s planned 40th-anniversary reunion tour was scrapped after Rockett claimed Michaels wanted $6 for every $1 the others would make. The proposed trek to mark the 40th anniversary of the band’s 1986 debut album “Look What the Cat Dragged In” was abandoned over the alleged demand, which Rockett described as the reason the reunion became financially unworkable.
