Arch Enemy guitarist Michael Amott recently confirmed that the band is working on a new studio album with their new singer, Lauren Hart, though he noted that the project will take some time to complete. Amott shared these details during an interview with KDVR Fox 31.
He discussed the band’s decision to release their first song with Hart quickly and how their current focus has shifted toward touring.
“We did kind of put together one song [‘To The Last Breath’, which came out in February] very quickly when Lauren joined ’cause we felt it was important to showcase her voice on her own song and have that out there for the fans to enjoy before we hit the road,” Amott said.
He then explained how the band’s busy touring schedule has influenced their timeline for writing new music.
“And then since then, now we’re booking… There’s been such an enormous interest in booking us for live stuff, for touring all over the world, and the reaction was so strong, so now we’re just kind of doing that,” he continued. “And I think it’s kind of cool to go out on the road and really become a really solid unit and solidify that partnership. I compare it… It’s like we’re getting to know each other before we buy a house. And then we’re slowly working on a new album as well.”
Amott emphasized that they are working on the album during their downtime, prioritizing quality over speed.
“So that’s in the works,” he added. “But we’re doing that in between in the little gaps. But we are working on it. But I think it really has to be a great album. It should be great songs, great music and just feel right. So, yeah, it takes a bit of time. It doesn’t just happen like that.”
Amott’s comments arrive roughly eight months after Hart was unveiled as the band’s new frontwoman, a change that marked one of the most significant moments in Arch Enemy’s recent history.
Arch Enemy introduced Lauren Hart as Alissa White-Gluz’s replacement on February 19, 2026. Hart, formerly of the band Once Human, was announced alongside the release of “To The Last Breath,” the group’s first song featuring her on vocals.
The single served as the opening statement of a new era for the Swedish melodic death metal veterans. “To The Last Breath” arrived roughly a year after the band’s Blood Dynasty album cycle, and Amott described the collaboration with Hart as “an important step.” He also praised her “remarkable voice,” along with her dedication and professionalism.
“I think it’s an important step,” Amott said of bringing Hart into the fold, adding that her “remarkable voice” and professionalism made the transition a natural one.
The lineup change closed out an era that spanned more than a decade. White-Gluz fronted Arch Enemy from 2014 through 2025, a period that included the albums Deceivers (2022) and Blood Dynasty (2025). Both records reached Sweden’s Top 10.
White-Gluz addressed her exit in a statement, saying, “After 12 years in Arch Enemy, we have parted ways.” She has since begun working toward a solo career, while Hart has stepped into the role and joined the band on the road.
