Review Overview

Evanescence’s sixth studio album, Sanctuary, came out on June 5, 2026 through BMG. It’s out on digital, standard CD, deluxe CD, limited-edition box set, and double vinyl.

The album opens with Beautiful Lie and moves through tracks like Who Will You Follow and Rapture. Amy Lee’s voice is still the center of everything — emotional, powerful, and hard to ignore.

The sound sits where Evanescence has always lived: gothic rock and symphonic metal. But the production here feels bigger and more cinematic than before. It’s familiar, but it doesn’t feel like a repeat.

One of the album’s biggest strengths is its atmosphere. Sanctuary feels dark and emotional, but it never becomes overwhelming. The orchestral elements add depth without taking attention away from the songs themselves, creating a sound that feels both grand and personal.

Amy Lee delivers one of her strongest vocal performances in years. Whether she’s singing softly or pushing into the album’s heavier moments, she brings a level of emotion that makes the material feel genuine. Even when the music becomes massive and cinematic, her voice remains the anchor that ties everything together.

This is the band’s first studio album in several years. Sanctuary holds up under that pressure. Evanescence still knows how to write music that hits hard and stays melodic at the same time.

Summary
Sanctuary proves Evanescence remains a vital force in gothic rock and symphonic metal, delivering an album that balances familiar strengths with expanded sonic ambitions. Amy Lee's commanding vocals anchor a record that feels both cinematic and heavy, rewarding longtime fans while maintaining the band's distinctive identity. Though not groundbreaking in its approach, the album demonstrates technical confidence and emotional depth that justify its place in the band's catalog.
