Nightwish has announced that they have decided to part ways with singer Floor Jansen, who will now focus on her solo career and her upcoming 2027 album, Hytress. The announcement was shared on Instagram.
The band’s statement explained that the decision to part ways was mutual and necessary for their future ambitions.
“Nightwish and Floor Jansen part ways,” the band stated. “After careful consideration, we have, in mutual agreement, decided to part ways. This decision is necessary and important to us and our future ambitions.”
The band expressed their well wishes for each other’s future endeavors as they move forward separately.
“Thus, we will now pursue those goals in our own separate ways,” they continued. “We wish each other nothing but the very best on our respective artistic journeys. For you, dear listener, and indeed for us, this marks the end of a truly great voyage.”
Floor Jansen also shared her own statement regarding the departure, expressing optimism about her musical future and thanking fans for their support.
“Endings create new beginnings, and even though it was a hard decision to make, I believe there is a bright musical journey ahead of me,” Jansen said. “I invite you to follow along on this path, as you were with me in all the great years before. Thank you for your support through the rollercoasters of life.”
She further explained that she will be dedicating her full attention to her solo work and her next album.
“My solo career will now get all of my attention and gives my new upcoming album Hytress (out 2027) and the tour all space to grow,” Jansen added. “Hope to meet you on the road again in a near and happy future. With love and respect, Floor.”
This marks a significant transition for both Nightwish and Jansen as they embark on their respective paths.
The departure closes a chapter that began more than a decade ago, when Jansen first entered the band’s orbit as a temporary solution rather than a permanent fixture. Nightwish brought in Jansen as a touring member in 2012, following the departure of lead vocalist Anette Olzon, and she remained with the group until the end of the Imaginaerum World Tour.
That temporary role soon turned into something permanent. Nightwish announced Jansen as Olzon’s permanent replacement on October 9, 2013, alongside uilleann pipes player Troy Donockley, making the band a six-member lineup for the first time.
Jansen’s tenure with Nightwish produced three studio albums. She sang on 2015’s Endless Forms Most Beautiful, 2020’s Human. :II: Nature. and 2024’s Yesterwynde.
