Former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth has broken his silence following the cancellation of nearly all remaining dates on his 2026 tour. He shared his first public reaction through a cryptic Instagram video that has sparked both amusement and concern among his fanbase.

In the video, Roth performs a limbo challenge on stage. He attempts to pass under a horizontal pole while maintaining his signature showmanship. The caption accompanying the post reads: “Roth reaches a new low…” — a clever play on words that references both the physical act of limbo and the circumstances surrounding his tour’s collapse.

The post comes after widespread reports that Roth has canceled most of his remaining 2026 tour dates due to insufficient ticket sales. Dates simply vanished from his official website on July 23 without formal explanation. Only a single performance remains scheduled: an August 7 appearance at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip in South Dakota.

Fan reactions to Roth’s limber response have been mixed. One supporter expressed concern, saying: “I have heard that Dave has cancelled the rest of his tour. I hope Dave is OK and maybe he will join Sammy in Vegas. Take care Dave.” Another fan who attended a recent show defended the performer’s abilities, writing: “For all you people talking shit. I was front row at that show (Vancouver) Dave was awesome. The whole crowd was rocking and into it.”

The tour troubles began earlier in the summer when Roth canceled a show in Fort Wayne, Indiana on short notice. That performance had sold only approximately 200 tickets despite being on sale for six days. This signaled the broader demand issues that would eventually lead to the wholesale cancellation of remaining dates throughout late July.

The contrast between Roth’s current situation and that of his former Van Halen bandmate Sammy Hagar has not gone unnoticed. While Roth struggles to fill venues, Hagar continues to perform sold-out shows in Las Vegas. This disparity has fueled speculation among fans about the state of Roth’s career and his ability to draw audiences in the current touring landscape.

Despite the setbacks, Roth’s self-deprecating humor in his limbo video suggests he is maintaining his characteristic wit and resilience in the face of professional disappointment. Whether the remaining Sturgis date will proceed as scheduled remains to be seen. For now, the rock icon appears to be taking his tour cancellations in stride with the kind of irreverent attitude that defined much of his career with Van Halen.
