Cradle of Filth frontman Dani Filth recently discussed his collaboration with Bring Me The Horizon on their 2021 track, ‘Wonderful Life,’ and responded to the criticism that followed. In a new interview with Overdrive, Filth explained why his band has worked with artists from different genres.

“Majority of the people love it, it’s just the minority but the fact of it is they say, ‘Oh my God, you’re not being true to the scene.’ Actually, we’ve been true to ourselves,” the frontman explained. “I mean there’s no point, I’m not saying we’re rolling it out because we’ve got plans for other things. There’s no point doing a collaboration with another band that sounds as exactly the same. I like the marriage of extremes.”

Filth also talked about his collaboration with Ed Sheeran, describing it as ‘amazing’ and revealing that the track is ready for release. “The Ed Sheeran thing’s amazing it really is. It’s done, dusted, ready for release. When he’s not doing something, when we’re not doing something. The Bring Me The Horizon thing was good I did a thing with Twisted, 69 Eyes, turned down loads of other things as well. But yeah, that’s going to be interesting.”

‘Wonderful Life’ was released as a single ahead of Bring Me The Horizon’s 2018 album ‘Amo.’ Cradle of Filth also worked with Ed Sheeran, but their song hasn’t been released yet. The track will appear on the deluxe version of their upcoming album.

Filth explained that the delay in releasing the song with Sheeran had a purpose, but it also showed that they weren’t using Sheeran’s fame for promotional purposes.

“There’s a reasoning behind that but it’s not going to delay the inevitable. It’s a great song anyway and it just keeps people guessing at a little bit longer, but it also shows that we’re not using it as a vehicle for the record which I was very keen to stress that yeah he’s one of the biggest artists in the world and yes we’ve done a thing with him, yes everybody’s very curious about it,” he said in an interview.

Filth first mentioned collaborating with Sheeran during an interview on Kerrang! Radio’s Breakfast Show at the 2021 Bloodstock Open Air festival. He revealed that Sheeran was a big fan of Cradle of Filth and other metal bands like Slipknot.

The band’s upcoming album is finished but still doesn’t have a release date. Filth confirmed that it’s expected to arrive around March 2025.
