Former Scorpions drummer Herman Rarebell has addressed speculation about rejoining the band in a recent interview with The Metal Voice. He revealed his previous attempt to reconnect with the band after James Kottak’s departure.
“It depends, really, what the plan would be. At the moment, I see no reason,” Rarebell said. “I offered them a while back, when James Kottak was not them anymore, I wrote them an e-mail, the three of them [Klaus Meine, Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs], and I said, ‘Why don’t we do something again,’ just like between friends.”
“And they didn’t even answer me,” he continued. “So I said to them, ‘Okay, f*ck it. If you don’t want [to consider it], I’m not gonna kiss your a**. Then f*ck it.’ Or like Paul McCartney would say: let it be.”
His recent statement opens a broader discussion about his contributions to the band’s legacy and his current musical journey.
Songwriting Legacy

Louder Sound reports that Rarebell played a crucial role in creating some of Scorpions’ most iconic hits. He co-wrote ‘Rock You Like a Hurricane’ and ‘Blackout,’ which became cornerstones of the band’s success in the 1980s.
The drummer’s songwriting contributions went beyond providing rhythms. He helped shape the band’s signature sound during their most commercially successful period.
Recent Musical Ventures

Louder Sound confirms that Rarebell remains active in the music industry through various creative projects. He recently reissued his debut solo album ‘Nip in the Bud.’
His work with the art ensemble The Seeing Tree demonstrates his artistic versatility. The project combines musical elements with visual art to create unique artistic expressions.
Post-Scorpions Career

After leaving Scorpions, Rarebell joined Michael Schenker’s Temple of Rock. This collaboration ended shortly due to changes in the project’s touring format.
These experiences and his current stance on rejoining Scorpions show his commitment to artistic integrity. He continues to pursue projects that align with his vision and personal principles.
