Korn guitarist Brian ‘Head’ Welch has opened up about his spiritual experiences in a recent Instagram post. He addresses the often-complex relationship between spirituality and metal music through his own two-decade journey.

“There’s a man in scripture who confessed to ‘persecuting Christians to their death’ until the day he was completely humbled and forgiven by God,” Welch shared. “One day, he was taken out of his body for a time and shown mysteries in the afterlife. Human language wasn’t enough for him to adequately articulate what he saw, felt or experienced.”

“I haven’t had an out of body experience, but I’ve had many other spiritual experiences over the last 20 years,” he continued. “Why else would I keep talking about this stuff decades later? It’s not a very popular subject in the metal world lol, but I swear to you, once you become a true seeker…it all becomes so real!”

Welch’s recent statement reflects his ongoing journey of faith and transformation. This journey began during a pivotal moment in his career with Korn.

Spiritual Transformation

Research from John Cody Online reveals Welch’s spiritual awakening in 2005. He made the decision to leave Korn, one of the era’s most successful metal bands, to focus on his faith and personal battles.

The guitarist demonstrated his commitment through baptism in the Jordan River. This event marked a significant turning point in his life journey.

Literary Expression

IWNDWYT documents how Welch transformed his experience into literature. His 2008 autobiography ‘Save Me from Myself’ details his battle with addiction and path to spiritual redemption.

The book offers hope to others facing similar challenges. It provides an intimate look into his personal struggles and transformation.

Return To Korn

Cross Rhythms chronicles Welch’s eventual return to Korn. His journey demonstrated that faith and metal music could coexist harmoniously.

His return proved a powerful point. Personal beliefs and artistic expression can find balance in unexpected ways. Welch maintained his spiritual convictions while continuing his musical career.
