Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx has opened up about the secret to maintaining a healthy marriage while on the road. During the band’s newly launched tour, Sixx posted a photo with his wife, Courtney, revealing the one principle that has kept their relationship thriving through years of separation and constant travel.

“The truth of the matter is that rock ‘n’ roll can be hard on relationships—mostly because of the distance,” Sixx explained. “My wife and I have been doing this dance for almost 16 years, and one of our golden rules is simple: we never go more than two weeks without seeing each other.” The bassist emphasized the importance of this commitment. Maintaining physical presence and connection has been crucial to their longevity as a couple.

Sixx’s candid remarks came as his family joined him on the road, creating cherished moments away from the stage. “It’s so great having Courtney and Ruby out here with me. We got to spend some real family time and the band had a kick ass show tonight,” he shared, highlighting the joy of balancing professional obligations with personal relationships.

The band launched “The Return of the Carnival of Sins” tour on July 17, 2026, in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania. This 33-city North American run will continue through late September. The tour celebrates both the 20th anniversary of the band’s groundbreaking 2005-2006 “Carnival of Sins” tour and Mötley Crüe’s 45th anniversary as a band.

The current lineup features Vince Neil on vocals, Nikki Sixx on bass, Tommy Lee on drums, and John 5 on guitar. Fresh off their 2025 Las Vegas residency, the band has returned to the road with renewed energy. The setlist includes both classic hits and deep cuts that haven’t been performed live in decades. Opening acts Extreme and Tesla complete the bill, creating a powerhouse lineup that appeals to classic rock enthusiasts across North America.

For Sixx, the tour represents more than just a professional milestone. It’s an opportunity to demonstrate that rock ‘n’ roll legends can maintain meaningful personal relationships despite the inherent challenges of the industry. His commitment to seeing his wife every two weeks, even during an exhausting touring schedule, serves as a testament to the intentionality required to keep marriages strong in the spotlight. The presence of his family on the road underscores his belief that quality time and consistent connection are non-negotiable elements of a lasting partnership.

As Mötley Crüe continues their triumphant return to touring, Sixx’s message about prioritizing relationships offers a refreshing perspective on what it takes to succeed both on stage and at home. The band’s continued success and the bassist’s openness about his marriage demonstrate that even in an industry known for excess and instability, commitment and communication can prevail.
