Nikki Sixx shared his frustration on X regarding Mötley Crüe’s continued absence from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The bassist reshared a post, saying, “Mötley Crüe. 100 MILLION records sold WORLDWIDE. 22 TOP 40 Mainstream Rock Hits. 6 Top Pop Singles. 9 Top 10 Albums on Billboard 200 Chart. 8.2 MILLION monthly Listeners on Spotify. Established in 1981 and STILL PLAYING. THEY ARE STILL NOT CONSIDERED FOR THE ROCK AND HALL. MÖTLEY CRÜE IS ROCK AND ROLL.”
With a laughing emoji, Sixx added, “We are building our own hall of fame for us artists who misbehaved.”

Mötley Crüe’s Continued Exclusion

Despite being eligible since 2006, Mötley Crüe has never been nominated. Sixx has repeatedly voiced his negative stance on the institution.
“I think people get too worked up about the RRHF. If you get in that’s cool and if not, it’s not a big deal,” Sixx stated on social media in 2023. “It’s not some elite club that defines you. It’s an award. None of us hopefully make music just for awards. I do like the idea of jamming with other musicians at the ceremony.”
In 2015, Sixx expressed his discontent further, saying, “It’s a fixed old-boy network that has lost touch with art, songwriting craft, lyrics and influential music and usually has other agendas at hand.” He also mentioned, “Young bands tell me it’s a joke and these bands are the future.”
Tommy Lee And Vince Neil Agree With Sixx’s Stance

Tommy Lee, Mötley Crüe’s drummer, agreed with Sixx in an interview with Bill Maher. He said, “We’re like, uh, maybe this isn’t the cool club. And now it’s like, if they asked us, we’d probably say, ‘Yeah, thanks, not really interested.'”
Vince Neil, another member of the band, doesn’t expect Mötley Crüe to be inducted anytime soon. “I think it’d be pretty cool to be inducted,” Neil said in an interview with WMMR Philadelphia. “But we’ll probably be dead when they induct us.”
The 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees were announced on February 12. One notable omission was Iron Maiden. This year’s nominees include Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Mariah Carey, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Cyndi Lauper, Mana, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, Outkast, Phish, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes.
