Stryper’s Michael Sweet praised Carrie Underwood for handling the audio issues during her performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration.
“As a singer myself, a situation where your music track is not working and you’ve rehearsed with that accompaniment for weeks, months – then you have to just roll with the fact that it’s not working and you have to sing acapella as the entire world watches,” Sweet wrote in an Instagram post, sharing a video of Underwood’s performance. Yeah, I’d say Carrie Underwood showed every performing artist how it’s done with class, boldness and absolute professionalism.”
Underwood’s performance of ‘America the Beautiful’ was interrupted by an audio issue, causing her and the Armed Forces Chorus to sing a cappella. After the song began and the audio cut out, a White House official encouraged Underwood to continue without the music. She then asked the crowd for help, saying, “You know the words, help me out here.”
While Underwood hasn’t responded to Sweet’s praise, it’s known that she’s a big rock fan. She has covered songs by Skid Row, Mötley Crüe, and Guns N’ Roses and is a fan of Freddie Mercury and I Prevail.
Disturbed’s David Draiman also invited Underwood to perform with him on stage. She responded on X, saying, “Ahhhhh!!! Why am I not in town when you guys are playing here? Our time will come…”
On another note, an insider revealed that Carrie Underwood was frustrated with the outcome of the event.
