Brittany Furlan, Tommy Lee’s wife, recently discussed their life after the Los Angeles wildfires on This Is The Worst Podcast. Brittany had previously shared on Instagram that they are unable to return home as they live close to the fire zone. During the podcast, she detailed the challenges they’ve been facing.
Brittany revealed that the house was covered in ash, saying, “You let me borrow clothes, and I’m washing them, I put stain stick on it but [there’s ash] everywhere. The whole house is covered. There was ash in the pond. So they’re going to have to do some crazy sh*t now to that to fix it.”
Another heartbreaking aspect for the couple is the damage to Tommy’s bonsai trees. “The other thing that’s really sad is the bonsai trees, they’re not getting water because they turned everything off now. Poor Tommy, this is so sad. He has bonsai trees that are like 150 years old and they’re not getting water. Look, we’re grateful, we have our home, what can we say? We have ourselves, we have the dogs, so that’s a huge win. I have to just be thankful.”
Brittany also shared her concerns about their health and safety when they return. “I’m scared to go back because we checked our water on WaterforLA.com and they’re like, ‘You can’t drink it at all.’ You can’t even boil it. You can’t put boiling water on a stove and put macaroni in it, none of that for as long as they say. I make a lot of pasta. They also want us to wear n95 masks around that area because we’re right next to it. So top of my hill is all charred and it’s just crazy.”
Additionally, the couple has been warned not to bathe in the water unless all windows in the bathroom are open to let out contaminants. “So it’s going to be a really weird thing when I get back and then they’re telling us that we shouldn’t bathe in it either unless we open all the windows in our bathrooms because there’s particulate in the water. Normally I guess they’re able to filter stuff out, but it’s so much. Then they’re also saying, ‘Don’t open your windows because they’re in the air and you need to run air purifiers.’ So I’m like, ‘What do we do? What do we do or not?’ I don’t know.”
Even with these challenges, Brittany shared gratitude, saying, “The win is our house is here and we’re so grateful. I’m so grateful we were able to save our fish and I’m so grateful we were able to have the dogs and have a place to stay.”
The wildfires in Los Angeles have also affected other rock musicians, including Scott Ian, Brad Wilk, and Joe Bonamassa, forcing many to evacuate. Brittany previously posted on Instagram, saying, “We were evacuated last night. The fire is 0% contained. Praying for a miracle.”
While the immediate threat from the fires has eased, concerns remain as more Santa Ana Winds are expected soon. Authorities continue to fear that the death toll may rise as rescue operations persist. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has already received over 150 tips about the cause of the Palisades Fire.
