Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland has confirmed that the band is planning to enter the studio in August to write new music, marking another significant step in the band’s remarkable creative resurgence. Borland expressed genuine amazement at the current state of Limp Bizkit’s career trajectory during a recent interview.

“Absolutely. We’re planning on going in… I think we have some time in August that we’re planning on going in and writing,” Borland stated. “We’ve had writing sessions, and there are parts that we may end up using in some of the new songs.” He and frontman Fred Durst have been revisiting material from previous sessions. “Fred and I were just listening to some riffs and some other sessions that we had from a writing session last year, and we were, like, ‘Oh, I forgot about that. I forgot about that.’ And so we’ve got some ammo to go in.”

Borland emphasized the unprecedented nature of Limp Bizkit’s current position. “We’re the biggest we’ve ever been right now. It’s crazy. And I’m not saying that in a cocky way. I’m saying that, like, we can’t believe it. It’s just been — we’re so lucky. I don’t know exactly how it happened, but I think people… We just get along so well now, and everybody, we’re adults, and we’re still having fun doing it, and I think that translates to the audience.”

Limp Bizkit’s comeback represents a dramatic turnaround for a group that has experienced significant ups and downs throughout their career. The band now commands one of the most successful eras in their entire history. They have successfully rebuilt their fanbase and cultural relevance through consistent touring and a renewed sense of camaraderie among its members.

The upcoming August writing sessions will contribute to Limp Bizkit’s seventh studio album, which has been in development since early 2023. The band’s creative output has already begun to materialize with the release of their first new song in four years, “Making Love to Morgan Wallen,” which debuted in September 2025 as part of the Battlefield 6 video game soundtrack. This track marked a significant milestone for the band, signaling their return to active recording after an extended period away from the studio.

Limp Bizkit’s touring schedule has been relentless and successful throughout 2024, 2025, and into 2026. The band has performed at major festivals across Europe and undertaken extensive tours throughout North America and Latin America. Their ability to draw massive crowds and maintain fan enthusiasm demonstrates the depth of their comeback. The band’s confirmed appearance as co-headliners at the Summer of ’99 and Beyond Festival in Tinley Park, Illinois on July 18-19, 2026, alongside Creed, further solidifies their position as one of rock’s most vital acts in the current landscape.

The band’s lineup has remained relatively stable during this resurgence, with original guitarist Wes Borland continuing to play a central creative role. Following the passing of original bassist Sam Rivers in late 2023, Richie Buxton from Ecca Vandal has taken over bass duties. Buxton has performed with the band since November 2025. This transition has not disrupted the band’s momentum, as the members continue to work together as adults who genuinely enjoy the creative process and each other’s company.
