Along with his acting and active rapping career, Ice-T also has a successful metal career in the band Body Count. Formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1990, Body Count is known for blending heavy metal with elements of hardcore punk, thrash metal, and rap and for its socially and politically charged lyrics. Appearing as the lead singer of the band, Ice-T succeeded in combining these elements over the years. In this list, we are going to prove Ice-T’s successful career as a metal musician.

‘Talk Shit, Get Shot’

Appearing on the band’s 2014 ‘Manslaughter’ album, the track features aggressive guitar riffs and lyrics that reflect the band’s attitude. While the song’s content and aggressive sound may not be for rap fans, it has been appreciated by hardcore and heavy metal fans for its raw energy and straightforward message.

‘Black Hoodie’

This one is from the 2017 album ‘Bloodlust’ with a softer tone compared to the 2014 album. Still, it draws the fans’ attention to racial profiling and police violence, particularly in the context of African-American communities. In particular, the song touches on the deaths of young black men, often wearing black hoodies, in confrontations with law enforcement.

‘Hey Joe’

Initially written by Billy Roberts and famously covered by Jimi Hendrix track, Body Count’s version adds a heavy metal and rap-rock twist to the song. Despite its heavier sound compared to Hendrix’s version, Body Count still succeeds in reflecting the emotion of the song with their own style.

‘Institutionalized 2014’

Though you might think this is a copy of the Suicidal Tendencies song, ‘Institutionalized,’ it’s actually a cover of the original song. Body Count’s version updates the song with new lyrics and a more contemporary sound, paying homage to the original. The song has been seen as a tribute to Suicidal Tendencies and has been well-received by fans of both bands. It combines elements of punk and metal while showcasing Ice-T’s rapping skills.

‘Body Count’s In The House’

Ending the list with one of the classics. Appearing on the self-titled debut album released in 1992, the song is an energetic and aggressive track that would serve as an introduction to the band. With its fast guitar licks and rapping parts, ‘Body Count’s In The House’ has been a fan favorite for its energetic sound and has contributed not only to the band’s reputation but Ice-T’s as well.
