Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens recently shared one of his favorite cuss words to use during live shows while speaking with Sense Music Media.
The singer recalled a memory about the word as follows: “Last time I was in Melbourne, I had a guy out in the crowd, and he was so excited. He was standing next to my girlfriend the whole time, and he didn’t know that was her. He was like—I started saying ‘c**t’ on stage because I’m allowed to say it in Australia. So, I said it, and I think I might have called the crowd a bunch of ‘c**ts.’”
“I think I said, ‘Oi, c**t, duck us a tinny!’ That’s what I said to him,” he continued. “And the guy started saying—he was just yelling, ‘Ripper, c**t! Ripper, c**t!’ He was at his beer. ‘Ripper, c**t!’ and he looked at my girlfriend. He said, ‘I don’t get out much. I got kids at home, and I got a job. I don’t get out much.’ And he’s going, ‘Ripper, c**t!’ I’m like, ‘This is fantastic. This is great.’”
Owens is set to return to Australia soon for his solo tour, ‘The Loudest Voice in Metal.’ The announcement followed the wrap-up of his 2024 performances with KK’s Priest in October.
During 2024, the band toured across Europe and America but didn’t include any shows in Australia. The frontman explained, “I think one reason is there’s a lot of people touring. I mean, in America it’s just non-stop. Our KK’s Priest tours did pretty well in America, but it’s expensive for big bands. We can’t come to Australia—KK’s Priest. We tried. We’re hopefully gonna do it. We tried to get there, but the guarantees and expenses, it wasn’t adding up, so KK’s not doing it. We’re not a new band that goes and loses or breaks even or whatever.”
Owens is opening his Australian shows in Sydney on February 20, followed by shows in Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth, before concluding in Melbourne on May 14.
