Darby Todd is currently filling in for Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante. He shared a drum-cam video of himself performing “Caught In A Mosh” live at Rock Imperium festival. The fill-in drummer took the stage after Benante announced he would miss a handful of shows due to a hand injury.

“Played a great show with Anthrax tonight,” Todd said. “It’s cool being able to cover for Charlie Benante.” “Oslo kicked off this evening!” he added.

“An Ouch post: I wanted to let everyone know that I unfortunately injured my right hand and, following my doctor’s orders, I’ll be sitting out a handful of shows from June 20 through July 4 to give it the proper time to heal,” Benante said in his previous announcement. “I’m incredibly grateful that Darby Todd will be stepping in behind the kit for these dates and helping keep the shows rolling while I recover.”

Todd’s involvement with the band began earlier than the Rock Imperium performance. He was originally recruited to cover a single show on May 23 in Athens, Greece. Benante had a scheduling conflict with Pantera, the other band he drums for. That one-off appearance turned into a much longer commitment.

Benante had injured his right hand. His doctors advised him to rest from June 20 through July 4 to allow the injury to heal properly. Following that medical guidance, the longtime Anthrax drummer sat out a string of European dates. Todd stepped in to fill the gap.

The UK-based session drummer ended up covering a total of 10 shows for Benante during that period. His run included performances at major European festivals such as Hellfest in France and Rock Imperium in Spain. The drum-cam footage was captured at the latter.

Todd’s drum-cam videos have given fans a unique perspective on his performances with the thrash metal legends. The footage showcases his ability to handle the band’s classic material while maintaining the energy and precision expected from an Anthrax live show.
