Sid Wilson has given Slipknot fans new hope that he may still be connected to the band after referring to himself as “Number Zero from the world famous Slipknot” during a recent livestream.

Wilson recently hosted The World Scratch Invitational on YouTube. While he did not directly address reports about his alleged departure from Slipknot, his closing words quickly caught fans’ attention.

“I’m Sid, DJ Starscream Number Zero from the world famous Slipknot,” Wilson said at the end of the livestream. “And this is The World Scratch Invitational. See you at the next one.”

The statement comes amid uncertainty surrounding Wilson’s future with Slipknot. TMZ recently reported that the longtime DJ had been permanently removed from the band after allegedly being informed of the decision in late July. However, neither Slipknot nor Wilson has publicly released a clear statement confirming his departure.

Wilson’s decision to identify himself with Slipknot therefore sparked hope among some fans that the situation may not be as straightforward as initially reported.

One fan questioned why people were continuing to believe the report despite Wilson’s latest words. “Even after Sid said this, by the comment section, most people still prefer to believe a shady sourceless article from a news outlet that has a history of publishing fake news and hoaxes,” the fan wrote.

Others argued that Wilson’s wording was too vague to be considered confirmation that he remains a member of the band. “He said ‘from’ the band not, ‘in’ so this is very speculative… Sadly,” another fan commented. “Why isn’t he just releasing a statement?? I truly thought something legal was going on, now I’m not so sure.”

Another commenter took the opposite position and argued that TMZ’s report should not simply be dismissed. “Yes, no one likes TMZ and they are renowned for being disgusting, but they also have a reputation for being very accurate, and there is no way they would print something like this on the word of an ex-girlfriend,” the fan wrote. “The owner of TMZ was a lawyer, so he’d be aware of the legal implications of a false story.”

The speculation began after TMZ reported that Wilson had been notified that he was permanently out of Slipknot. The outlet cited a source close to the band with direct knowledge of the situation but did not reveal what allegedly led to the decision.

Wilson has been part of Slipknot since the late 1990s and became known as #0, or Number Zero, during the band’s classic nine-member era. His turntables, samples and chaotic stage presence became an important part of Slipknot’s identity as the band rose to international success.

The lack of an official announcement has left fans searching Wilson’s recent activity for clues. His latest introduction is particularly notable because he not only mentioned Slipknot but also continued to use his longtime “Number Zero” identity.

Still, the wording does not directly confirm his current membership. Saying he is “from” Slipknot could describe either a current or past association, which explains why the livestream has only added another layer to the debate.
