Poison drummer Rikki Rockett proposed a cruise with the band to fans, but the response raised concerns about whether frontman Bret Michaels would be available for touring, according to comments on Instagram.
Rockett asked fans directly about their interest in such an event. The replies shifted focus to Michaels’ current commitments and his level of involvement with Poison.
Rockett wrote in the caption of his post: “Would you do a cruise with us?”
One fan questioned whether Michaels would participate. “The question is would Bret Michaels want to tour with Poison?” the fan wrote.
Another fan expressed frustration about Michaels’ priorities. “Bret is more interested in playing with Mark McGrath then touring and making new music with Poison; it’s a shame,” the comment said.
A third fan suggested an alternative approach to the touring question. “You guys should start playing without Bret; the fans want a tour!” the fan wrote.
The cruise proposal prompted fans to voice concerns about Poison’s future as a touring act and their ability to record new material together.
The tension between band members over touring reflects a deeper disagreement about Poison’s direction. In 2026, the band’s planned 40th anniversary tour fell apart over a payment dispute. Rockett said that he, guitarist C.C. DeVille and bassist Bobby Dall were willing to reunite, but Michaels wanted too large a share of the money to make the tour work.
Michaels disputed this account and claimed the tour was delayed due to logistics and scheduling. He stated that his solo commitments were filling up throughout 2026 and that a Poison reunion was being moved toward 2027 instead. Michaels and Mark McGrath, the vocalist from Sugar Ray, have been touring together in 2026, with the two artists alternating performances during a single set.
Meanwhile, Rockett has taken a different path. He is touring throughout 2026 with his side project, Rockett Mafia, and the band is performing Poison’s 1986 debut album “Look What the Cat Dragged In” in full. The last time Poison toured together was in 2022, when they performed on a stadium tour that also featured Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
