Anthony Kiedis had a very unconventional childhood, to say the least. He moved to Hollywood and started living with his father Blackie Dammett at the age of 12 and had some interesting experiences.
Anthony’s father Blackie was an aspiring actor and part-time drug dealer. He later became RHCP’s Fanclub manager. Anthony decided to move in with his father as he always had a blast visiting him during the summer. He also had some questionable experiences too.
Anthony described these summer trips by saying:
“Those trips to California were the happiest, most carefree, the-world-is-a-beautiful-oyster times I’d ever experienced.”
Anthony would often experiment with drugs as his father was a part-time drug dealer. He tried marijuana and cocaine. He accidentally tried heroin at 14 for the first time, thinking it was cocaine. He detailed all of his childhood experiences in his autobiography ‘Scar Tissue.’ He also revealed how he lost his virginity in this memoir.
‘Scar Tissue’ Had Many Controversial Stories
Anthony Kiedis published ‘Scar Tissue‘ in 2004. The memoir was going to be a collection of stories about his childhood, RHCP career, and struggle with addiction. It later evolved into an autobiography and became an international bestseller.
The stories that he told in the memoir were horrifying for many, especially the ones about his childhood and the way he was raised by his father Blackie Dammett. One of the most controversial stories is about the first time he smoked a joint at the age of 12. This took place after his father offered him one while hanging out with his 18-year-old girlfriend.
This is how Anthony described that moment:
“I had been there only a few days when my dad called me into the kitchen. He was sitting at the table with a pretty eighteen-year-old girl he’d been hanging out with that week. ‘Do you want to smoke a joint?’ he asked me.
Then he lit up the joint and passed it to me. ‘Be careful, don’t take too much. You don’t want to cough your lungs out,’ he counseled. I realized I was high. I loved the sensation. It felt like medicine to soothe the soul and awaken the senses.”
Did Anthony Kiedis Lose His Virginity To His Father’s Girlfriend?
This was not the only time that Blackie was there for one of Anthony’s firsts. Another crazy story narrated in ‘Scar Tissue’ is about Anthony’s first sexual encounter with an 18-year-old girl while he was 12. The age may already be a surprise for you, but the fact that it was staged by his father will probably be an even bigger shock.
Kiedis’ unexpected sexual intercourse was described in ‘Scar Tissue’ as follows:
“One night, when Anthony was 12, he went with his father to the Rainbow Room and Blackie’s girlfriend is there dancing for him. And Anthony asks, ‘Dad, can I have my first sexual experience with your girlfriend?’ and Blackie says, ‘Sure, son.’
So they go back to the house, and his dad builds a big bed out of four mattresses in his room and puts the girl next to him. And that’s how he loses his virginity.”
This story reveals a lot about their father-son relationship: It clearly didn’t have any boundaries. The fact that Blackie was completely fine with this and prepared a big bed for them makes it even more shocking.
