Bret Michaels has postponed his upcoming show, sharing the news in a statement on Instagram. The delay comes shortly after drummer Rikki Rockett publicly addressed internal tensions within Poison and the band’s touring outlook.
Michaels explained that the date change was prompted by unexpected issues, stressing that he remains dedicated to his fans. “I just want to tell you, you know I love being out there on the road rocking the world with all of you. But the show on this coming Saturday, due to some unforeseen personal circumstances in my life, is simply going to be moved,” Michaels said. “Hold on to your tickets. We’re moving the show from this coming Saturday, November 15th to Saturday, May 16th. Hold on to those tickets—it’s gonna be sold out. We’re gonna make that show incredible. I’m putting together a great, fun three-song sound check party to thank you all for being awesome and patient.”
Michaels also revealed that the rescheduled run will be expanded, with an extra show added to meet strong fan demand. “It’ll be sold out, so hold on to your tickets. We’ve had a lot of requests for a second night, and we’re gonna add that on Friday May 15th. The second show is gonna be added. I love you all,” he continued.
This announcement arrives amid Rockett’s recent remarks about ongoing disagreements within Poison concerning a possible 40th-anniversary tour for 2026. According to Rockett, although he, C.C. DeVours, and Bobby Dall have accepted a proposed Live Nation contract for the tour, Michaels has not signed on.
Rikki Rockett said, “Bret and I do not talk, unfortunately. That’s a shame—honestly, it is. So we get bits and pieces of stuff.” He added, “I’ll set the record straight as far as Poison touring: at this point in time, there is nothing on the books for a 2026 40th-anniversary tour.”
“I said it months ago when we got presented a contract from Live Nation to go on tour next year. C.C., Bobby and I agreed. We thought it was great. We thought the money was great. We thought the lay of the land looked great. Then Bret looked at it and has not agreed to anything. So literally that is where we’re at.”
Although Michaels referenced “unforeseen personal circumstances,” the postponement appears tied to recent health setbacks that have affected his ability to tour consistently. Reports from AXS indicate that Michaels has been coping with a severe health issue connected to his lifelong Type 1 diabetes.
During a recent show, his blood sugar plummeted to 39, creating a dangerous situation and leading him to significantly revise his 2025 touring plans. The Loon noted that Michaels intends to scale back next year, performing only a small number of dates so he can recover and undergo comprehensive medical evaluations on the advice of doctors and family.
His overall health history includes more than the recent diabetic episode; Ultimate Classic Rock has previously chronicled his serious 2010 brain hemorrhage. The new scare emphasizes how difficult demanding tour schedules can be to manage, especially with frequent travel and consecutive shows.
Still, Michaels remains focused on his fans and on future performances. According to Metal Wani, he is prioritizing his health now so he can deliver strong performances later, including for Poison’s potential 2026 40th-anniversary tour. The decision to shift his November show to May 2026 reflects his effort to balance personal well-being with his passion for being on stage.
