Triumph’s Gil Moore talked about the band’s future plans after they recently announced more shows for their reunion tour. He also explained whether they are planning to record a new album, revealing that they do not have a firm plan for new music yet.
Gil Moore said, “Well, it’s hard to say. I mean, that (new album) is an option that’s on the table. I can tell you there’s going to be a documentary that’s going to be released sometime in 2027, hopefully after this tour.”
“It’s being assembled now and it kind of flows from our first documentary, Triumph: Rock and Roll Machine, which ends kind of like with this sunset moment of ‘Okay, what’s next?'”
“Well, this is what’s next and I think that’ll be fun because it’ll give fans a point of view of literally being in the band, backstage, catering, the bus, tuning the guitars—all the stuff that you don’t get to see when you’re in the audience will all be in there as well. Of course, the show itself is from the audience’s perspective, so that’ll be fun.”
The new documentary will follow Triumph’s return to the stage and expand on the earlier film by focusing on the band’s current reunion and life away from the stage.
Triumph’s Rock & Roll Machine Reloaded tour began in April 2026 and celebrates the band’s 50th anniversary. The run marked the original trio’s first North American tour together in more than three decades.
The reunion features original members Gil Moore, guitarist and vocalist Rik Emmett, and bassist and keyboardist Mike Levine. Touring musicians Phil X, Todd Kerns, and Brent Fitz are also joining the group for the shows.
Moore said the band was encouraged to return by the lasting impact of its classic songs. “I would say it’s the rising tide of fans reflecting on how songs that Triumph played affected them in their life,” he told Ultimate Classic Rock.
Triumph formed in Toronto in 1975. The group built its reputation through a blend of hard rock and progressive influences, later earning a wide audience with songs including “Lay It on the Line,” “Magic Power,” “Somebody’s Out There,” and “Fight the Good Fight.”
The band released several notable albums during the 1970s and 1980s, including Just a Game, Progressions of Power, Allied Forces, and Never Surrender. Triumph entered a period of inactivity after lineup changes and the release of Edge of Excess in 1993, but the original members have reunited for occasional appearances in the years since.
