Courtney LaPlante Defends Korn Giving Spiritbox A Short Time To Play As Opener

Spiritbox singer Courtney LaPlante has opened up about the short stage time they get during their opening shows with Korn and Gojira.

The singer took to X to respond to a new-deleted tweet, possibly about criticism as to why they play too short.

“We are the opening band! The opener rarely plays more than 30 minutes,” LaPlante explained. “I think the most I’ve ever played as the first band up is 35, most an opener of mine has played is 30. Korn has 30 years of music to play for their fans and a sound curfew to adhere to! Plus Gojira!”

“We are a guest on someone else’s tour, just happy to be here,” she added in another post. “When we headline our own tour, same thing, the openers will play 25-30 min, the direct support maybe 40-45 minutes and we will play the longest.”

Most fans don’t seem to mind the short set, as one user wrote, “And I’m so excited and grateful to scream for 30 minutes with you next week in NJ! Coming all the way from Trinidad & Tobago.”

“I will give you my all for 30 minutes,” another added.

The tour was first announced when Korn started teasing something new. Earlier this year, the band announced a stadium show in Los Angeles to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their first album. After that, they posted a short video with silhouetted figures on a mountaintop and a dark soundtrack. Fans speculated it might mean new music, extra tour dates, or something else.

The tour started on September 12 at Midflorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa and the bands will travel across the country before ending it in St. Paul, MN at Xcel Energy Center on October 27.
