Nikki Sixx’s wife, Courtney Sixx, recently opened up about navigating groupies and outside attention directed at her rock star husband. She shared her thoughts during a candid interview with Caroline Stanbury, where the topic arose after she was asked about the realities of being married to a member of Mötley Crüe in the age of social media.
The conversation focused on whether lingering groupie culture and online messages pose challenges today. When asked, “Do they still have like a lot of groupies? Do they slide into his DMs? I mean, you know, Mötley Crüe have had such a comeback. Like, how do you cope with all this?” Courtney responded with assurance rooted in trust and confidence in her relationship.
“First of all, I think to be with someone, whether it’s a musician, well, an athlete, an actor, someone that has to a director, whoever, someone that has to travel for work. If you don’t have that trust, like that implicit trust, I don’t think it would be worth it no matter how incredible the person because I would just be driving myself crazy if you don’t trust someone, you know?” she said.
Courtney also pointed out that Nikki’s sobriety has fundamentally shaped their marriage and lifestyle, especially while balancing family life.
“Also it’s different because he doesn’t drink, right? So that alcohol’s like, I mean it’s behind every big screw up, I feel like especially on the road. And it’s interesting because we have a six-year-old. His other band members and their wives, we’re on very different pages in our life. Not that one’s better than the other, right? So we’ll go out there together and it’s family time when Nikki’s not working and we will take our daughter Ruby all over,” she continued.
She went on to emphasize Nikki’s character, loyalty, and the conscious effort they both make to choose one another every day.
“So with him, it’s been he’s so loyal. Like he’s had his manager for 30 something years on a handshake deal. Like my husband is just the real deal. So, there’s no way. And I’m also very confident and I truly feel like we both chose to be together. I’m not with Nikki because he’s the only person out there that will be with me and he’s not with me because I’m the only girl that will be with him. Like, we’re making an active choice to be together,” she said.
Courtney’s confidence comes as Mötley Crüe continues to thrive decades into their career. The band is currently preparing for major touring plans that will once again put their work–family balance to the test. According to American Songwriter, Mötley Crüe is set to launch their 2026 “Return of Carnival of Sins” tour on July 17 at the Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania. Nikki has teased fans by promising a “next level” show powered by cutting-edge technology designed to deliver a fully immersive concert experience.
Nikki’s long-term sobriety, which Courtney described as a stabilizing force, has played a critical role in his personal growth. Ultimate Classic Rock has reported that he has been transparent about his struggles with addiction, crediting sobriety and therapy for helping him become a more engaged husband and father. This shift has been instrumental in maintaining stability for their family amid the pressures of fame.
Protecting that family has also become a top priority. Ultimate Classic Rock noted that Nikki has significantly reduced sharing photos of their daughter Ruby online following incidents involving stalkers and threats. He has explained that the family now resides on private property in Wyoming and is “locked and loaded” when it comes to security, underscoring the seriousness with which they approach safety.
Despite these concerns, Nikki remains energized about the band’s future. Blabbermouth reported that he has promised fans the upcoming tour will take them “on a crazy journey” through new technological innovations. This careful balance between an evolving career and safeguarding family life highlights the grounded, deliberate approach Nikki and Courtney have adopted in navigating modern rock stardom.
