Ted Nugent recently weighed in on rising British artist Yungblud, offering his perspective amid ongoing conversations about whether the young musician represents the future of rock music. Nugent shared his comments in a statement posted to his YouTube channel, where the veteran rocker made it clear he is firmly in Yungblud’s corner.
He pointed to the artist’s raw energy and high-profile collaboration with Aerosmith members as reasons for optimism about rock’s next generation.
“Now, I got to tell you this what this Yungblud guy, limey freak madness. This guy’s the real McCoy,” Nugent said. “Watch this Yungblud that’s working with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. It gives you hope that the really piss and vinegar that James Brown the original Chuck Barry, Little Richard is alive and well and this kid called Yungblud.”
Nugent continued by expanding on what he sees as Yungblud’s authenticity and connection to classic rock values. “What a great name. Yungblud from England. He’s a screamer. He’s a squalor,” he continued. “I was texting back and forth with Steve and Joe and he said, ‘This guy’s just like us,’ which were the last of them.”
The endorsement arrives as debate continues within the rock community about Yungblud’s long-term place in the genre. While some critics remain skeptical, others view his theatrical style and genre-blending approach as signs of rock’s evolution rather than its decline.
Nugent’s praise also coincides with a pivotal moment in Yungblud’s career. The British artist has recently reached a major milestone through a collaboration with legendary rock band Aerosmith.
According to Aerosmith’s official website, Yungblud, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, teamed up with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry to release a collaborative EP titled One More Time on November 21, 2025, via Capitol Records. The release marked Aerosmith’s first new music in more than 12 years, making the project especially meaningful for both the band and the emerging artist.
The collaboration began after Guitar World reported that Joe Perry received a call about Yungblud wanting to meet and work together in Sarasota, Florida. What initially started as a casual songwriting session quickly developed into a full creative partnership.
“A year ago, I got a call that Yungblud wanted to come to Sarasota to work with me and write some songs. I had heard his single and said, hell yeah, this guy’s got the juice,” Perry explained.
13th Floor later noted that the collaboration produced four original tracks along with a remixed version of Aerosmith’s classic “Back in the Saddle.” The EP’s lead single, “My Only Angel,” was released on September 19, 2025, and features a powerful duet between Tyler and Yungblud layered over Perry’s signature guitar work, further cementing the project as a bridge between rock’s past and its potential future.
