Disturbed frontman David Draiman has a unique take on the best heavy metal album. He took to X to share his preference for Metallica’s catalog after Lamb Of God guitarist Mark Morton declared, “‘Master of Puppets’ is the best heavy metal album ever made. That’s it.”
Draiman replied, “Not a popular opinion, but I actually prefer ‘Ride the Lightning.'”
Morton had previously shared his favorite Slayer album, stating, “‘South of Heaven’ > ‘Reign in Blood'” in August.
Draiman’s admiration for Metallica is clear. In response to music journalist Mitch Lafon’s’s comment that “‘Blackened’ is the best Metallica song,” he shared his own favorites: “False lol. [In my honest opinion], 1. ‘Master of Puppets’ 2. ‘Creeping Death’ 3. ‘Fade to Black.'”
Additionally, Draiman and Disturbed bassist John Moyer covered ‘Enter Sandman’ during Nita Strauss’ wedding reception.
In a 2018 interview with Kerrang!, Draiman also noted that ‘Ride The Lightning’ was one of the most impactful releases of his formative years.
