Disturbed’s David Draiman believes Metallica should headline the next Super Bowl Halftime Show. In a recent interview with Audacy Music, Draiman stated, “Metallica has been deserving of this for decades at this point. If there is anybody in the entire hard rock and metal world that should be playing Super Bowl halftime show it is Metallica.”
He also jokingly suggested himself for the national anthem, adding, “I would humbly request that I just be considered to sing the national anthem my whole life. Then once Metallica’s had their shot, if they want to consider us a couple years down the line to go ahead and play halftime, you give me a call, we’re available.”
Rock and Metal Fans Rally for Super Bowl Spotlight

Draiman isn’t alone in wanting a rock or metal act for the Super Bowl. Fear Factory’s Dino Cazares previously asked, “When are they going to bring Rock/Metal to the Superbowl? Metallica, AC/DC etc…” Meanwhile, actor Joe Manganiello started a petition for Metallica to headline the 2026 show, pointing out their hometown connection to the stadium, writing, “Just saying… next year’s Super Bowl is at San Francisco’s home stadium… How about a little known local band named Metallica for the half time show?”
This year’s halftime show featured Kendrick Lamar, sparking speculation about next year’s act. Among the rumored candidates for 2026 are Metallica, Linkin Park, Taylor Swift, BTS, Post Malone, and Jay-Z.
