Nine Inch Nails drummer Josh Freese has shared an emotional reflection on the band’s “Peel It Back” tour as it approaches its final shows. In a recent Instagram post, Freese revealed that only three shows remain on the tour. He expressed his gratitude for the experience.
“Three shows left of NIN’s ‘Peel It Back’ tour. Have posted very little but I’ve taken a lot of drum-cam stuff and going to be getting some decent audio to sync up with it before sharing,” Freese wrote. He continued with heartfelt praise for the production and his bandmates: “Incredible tour with first class band and crew and the most amazing production of any tour I’ve ever done or will probably ever be involved in. I don’t see how anyone can match it? Tour’s like this, make it all worth it.”
The drummer’s comments come as Trent Reznor, Nine Inch Nails’ frontman, has hinted at the possibility of the band retiring from touring. During a live show last month, Reznor addressed the audience directly: “I don’t know if we’re gonna be touring anymore after this, but I’m proud of the show that we’re doing right now. And I’m f*ckin’ grateful that you’ve chosen to spend your evening with us tonight. Thank you very much.”
These statements suggest that the “Peel It Back” tour may mark a significant turning point for the legendary industrial rock band. It potentially concludes their live touring chapter.
Josh Freese has been actively documenting his performances throughout the tour. Videos from shows such as the one at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, showcase Freese drumming live on tracks like “The Perfect Drug.” These performances were captured on YouTube, demonstrating his technical prowess and energy on stage. Freese mentioned in his Instagram post that he is professionally syncing these drum-cam recordings with audio to create high-quality documentation of the tour.
