According to Neal Schon, Journey is doing well without Steve Perry.

After the guitarist shared a statement about Jonathan Cain’s lawsuit against him on X, a user left a comment, saying, “Neal Schon awesome but Journey isn’t Journey without Steve Perry. Sorry. Just truth.”

“Yes I know that’s why we’re selling out stadiums,” Schon replied to the user referring to the band’s success.

Later, Rock History listed the best lead singers of all time and asked “Who is missing?” Schon named his former bandmate instead of Arnel Pineda, writing, “Steve Perry / Paul Rogers.”

Schon recently talked to The Guardian about ‘Don’t Stop Believin” and said he misses the days in the studio with the band and Perry, “We were so well rehearsed, we just walked into Fantasy Studios like we were walking on stage. We knocked that song out in a couple of hours. That’s the beauty of having a real band of great musicians. We had such chemistry. I really miss the days of everyone being in the same room.”

Perry also appreciates his time with Journey. In March, the singer thanked fans on Instagram for the success of ‘Don’t Stop Believin’.’ “When this ‘Don’t Stop Believin’,’ ‘The Biggest Song of All Time’ article came out yesterday [3/19/24], I was so emotionally stunned,” Perry wrote in his message.

He continued, “To be part of such a moment as this made me reflect on my parents. By that I mean, though I lost them both years ago, I was so happy for them because they are truly the reason this is happening. My dad was a singer, and both of them were very musical. So, on behalf of my Mom and Dad, I thank every one of you for so many years of support.”

“That’s great, Steve. God Bless,” Schon wrote in his reply to Perry. “I myself reflect on the great time we had writing this song. Respectfully, Neal Schon.”

Schon also previously appreciated Perry for always sharing the spotlight with his bandmates. After a fan shared an old picture of them performing together, Schon admitted he missed performing with Perry.

Yes I know that’s why we’re selling out stadiums 🏟️ 🤐
