Joe Satriani did not join Sammy Hagar and the band at their latest show.
In a new Instagram video, Hagar shared a clip from his private jet on the way to the Scottsdale show, showing all the band members except Satriani.
A fan asked, “Where’s Satch?”
Hagar responded, “He’s busy, Vic [Johnson]’s got it covered tonight.” This came just months after Jason Bonham was ‘let go’ from the band. A fan joked, “Satch got snatched, apparently.”
In November, Bonham announced he left the band in a social media post, saying, “Sammy has decided to carry on with Kenny, so sadly [I won’t be returning to the tour].”
Bonham had missed the last few shows of the tour due to his mother’s health issues and left Sammy Hagar’s Best of All Worlds tour in late August. Hagar said Bonham would return, but Aronoff became a permanent member after the Japanese dates.
After Bonham’s departure, Hagar explained why they were happier with Aronoff. “Yeah, and that’s why he is still in the band. That’s why we’re moving forward with him. There’s two reasons. Number one, he’s one of the greatest drummers on the planet. I think he’s been on more million-selling records than any musician in the world. And he did so well on this tour, and he plays with Joe on a full-time basis.”
He also mentioned that Aronoff’s schedule worked better with Satriani’s, making things easier for the band. “Keeping this ‘Best of All Worlds’ band together is difficult when you got Jason doing his thing, you got Joe doing his thing, you got Mike and I. We need our beach time and our taco nights, Taco Tuesdays and stuff. Trying to get it together, it really helps by having Kenny’s schedule be with Joe. If Joe’s available, Kenny’s available, and it’s not trying to put pieces together.”
Bonham will join the Rock Legends Cruise on February 13.
