In a new interview with Metal Injection, Mötley Crüe guitarist John 5 talked about how Mötley Crüe fans respect him the same way he respects Mick Mars’ solos.
“I feel that way. They have been so accepting and because I love Mick and I play the solos exactly how they were written and recorded,” the guitarist said when asked if he feels accepted by the fans. “I’m not like playing all this crazy stuff over ‘Looks That Kill’ or something, or ‘Home Sweet Home.'”
He added: “All the songs that we play, I play exactly how they were written and recorded because that’s what I love and it’s perfection. So I don’t wanna mess with perfection. So I think the fans are accepting of me because I have such a respect for the music and all those records.”
John 5 joined Mötley Crüe when Mick Mars left the band due to his health challenges back in October 2022.
After Mars left, John 5 often shared that he respects the former guitarist. “I think what’s important is that I have such a respect and fondness for Mick,” he said during another interview. “And I think that if anybody was gonna do it, I think Mick would want me to do it because I love the music and I love Mick so much and I love his solos, just like the world does. And I think that’s important. I think that’s really, really important ’cause I hold him on such a pedestal.”
In other news, Mötley Crüe will be releasing a new EP called ‘Cancelled.’ It will include three new tracks — ‘Dogs Of War,’ the title track, and a cover of Beastie Boys’ ‘(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!).’
