A Bon Jovi fan shared a video of Jon Bon Jovi performing ‘Bad Medicine’ during the band’s recent comeback show at Madison Square Garden. The footage, posted by a rock fan on X, prompted criticism of his vocal performance and comparisons to Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil and Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose. “Bon Jovi giving Vince Neil and Axl Rose a reprieve!” the fan wrote in the video’s caption.
Bon Jovi has acknowledged that his voice suffered from a serious 2022 vocal-cord injury and surgery, which has made live performance a focal point for fans and critics alike.
Another Bon Jovi fan commented, “Suddenly Vince Neil has the voice of an angel.”
A different fan said, “Can you believe there are people that went to the shows that say he sounded good? It baffles me.”
One rock fan added, “Not the biggest fan of Bon Jovi, but they had a good run. When the voice goes, we’re forced to listen to either bad singing, auto tune, or backing tracks, or a mixture of all three. None of which are fair to the audience.”
The broader comparison also has a long history: Axl Rose and Vince Neil were involved in a well-known feud in the late 1980s and early 1990s, including public insults and a televised challenge that never turned into a fight.
