Suicide Silence guitarist Chris Garza addressed reports about Slipknot and Sid Wilson during an episode of Garza Podcast. He described Slipknot’s 11-year run with its nine-member lineup as extraordinary and said outsiders cannot know the full history behind the band’s internal relationships.

Slipknot’s classic nine-member lineup solidified around the band’s 1999 self-titled debut, with Sid Wilson among that era’s members. That core configuration lasted until founding bassist Paul Gray’s death in 2010. Recent reports have claimed Slipknot quietly parted ways with Wilson, while Wilson’s ex-fiancée Kelly Osbourne has made separate allegations; Slipknot has not publicly confirmed Wilson’s status.

“Okay, so I do have a take on the Slipknot thing. It’s positive. What no one talks about with Slipknot and the members is that it is nothing short of a miracle how long that band has lasted with nine members,” Garza said.

“I’m in a band with four people. Four humans. That’s four humans too many. They have a whole other band. I want to say they had a solid nine in 99. And I think this when Jim joined, he was the last one. So I think we’re looking at 99. The last record with the nine of them was All Hope Is Gone and that dropped in 2008, I think. So look, 99. And unfortunately, that probably stopped when Paul Gray tragically died.”

“So, it was 2010. So, 99 to 2010. So, you’re looking at 11 years of nine psychos writing that kind of music. Touring as much as they did, taking over the planet, dude. It is a miracle they lasted 11 years with those nine psychopaths, dude. That is crazy. Like Slipknot is set forever, man. They are set forever. Like you can never take away those records. So that’s my take on it.”

“We don’t know coming from a band member. It’s impossible to explain the interpersonal relationships with the band members publicly. It’s like it’s its own thing. And there’s no way in hell that I understand their relationships with each other. No one does. They probably don’t either, let alone people with opinions.”

“I don’t believe headlines. I don’t believe what people are saying. No matter what comes out, you will never know what went down or the relationships or the history and the past. You don’t know. There’s so much history that goes into a relationship with a band. Each band is different. And all that history, man. You’re a ’90s band. I can’t even imagine. Money, platinum records. Holy crap, dude. Again, I was in a band with four people. Four people, too many.”

“We’ll never know what happened with Sid and the band and vice versa. It’s impossible to know. Or maybe he sucks. Who knows? You know, I met Sid once. Cool guy.”

For Garza, the reports surrounding Wilson are only one part of a much bigger story that outsiders may never fully understand. Whatever happened behind the scenes, he believes Slipknot’s ability to keep nine members together for more than a decade remains an extraordinary achievement.
