Kelly Osbourne shared a deeply moving Father’s Day tribute to her late father, Ozzy Osbourne. She revealed one of his final text messages before his passing, in which the legendary heavy metal frontman expressed his decision to step away from touring to prioritize his health. The message also captured a tender moment about how watching videos of his grandson Sid brought him joy during difficult times.
Ozzy wrote to his daughter: “You know what when ever I’m feeling sick and miserable all I have to do is watch the video you sent of little Sid in the bath and it makes me so happy that it all just go away. It really does.” He continued with heartfelt words about his family: “I just wish you were both still here. I really love both of you and all I want is for the two of you to be happy. And if there is ever anything you need from me, you only need to ask. I have decided that the days of gigs for me are over because I need my health a lot more.”
Kelly responded with deep affection for her father, writing: “Dad, I love you more than anything in the world. Sidney and I miss you terribly. Do you want to come over this weekend and see my house? Only if you feel up to it of course.” In her Father’s Day tribute, Kelly shared her own emotional reflection: “Dad, I still find myself looking for you in ordinary moments the advice I need, the joke I want to tell, the victory I wish you could see. The ache of missing you is the price of loving you, and I would pay it forever rather than have never been your child at all! I will never stop missing you. It is an honor to spend the rest of my life loving you. Until we meet again!”
The exchange captures a significant moment in Ozzy’s life when he was grappling with serious health challenges. These challenges had reshaped his career trajectory and forced major changes to his professional life. The Black Sabbath frontman had been battling Parkinson’s disease and spinal injuries for years. These conditions severely impacted his ability to perform and tour.
Ozzy’s decision to retire from touring represented the culmination of years of health struggles. These struggles had disrupted his plans multiple times throughout his career. He had initially announced a final world tour called “No More Tours II” back in 2018, but injuries and other complications prevented him from completing that vision. By January 2023, the tour was permanently canceled. This effectively ended his touring career after decades of performing on stages around the world. The decision reflected his commitment to his health and his desire to spend quality time with his family rather than continuing the grueling demands of international touring.
The legendary rocker’s final performance came on July 5, 2025, in Birmingham. He reunited with his Black Sabbath bandmates for what would be his last time on stage. Just weeks after that emotional final performance, Ozzy passed away on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76. His passing marked the end of an era for rock and metal music. The intimate messages he shared with his daughter in his final days revealed a man more focused on family and love than on the spotlight that had defined so much of his life.
