Bad Omens is receiving backlash from fans for their ‘hentai-themed’ shirts.
Earlier this week on August 28, Bad Omens announced the release of a new merch collection. However, there was one particular piece of merchandise that caused a scene in the fanbase.
For those who aren’t familiar, hentai refers to pornographic anime or manga. The shirt in question doesn’t show any explicit sex acts. It’s more suggestive, featuring an anime woman with her tongue out with a somewhat lustful expression.
Opinions on the shirt design quickly became divided. One user on X commented by sharing the new merch design, “New vampire (extreme) hentai design for Bad Omens (you don’t wanna know what she’s doing with her hands.)”
Another user compared this reaction to the controversy over Ghost’s merch, noting that both bands face criticism for their ‘adult content’ and more risky merchandise.
“You’re mad at bad omens for a ‘hentai’ shirt? Wait until they drop the ‘bad decisions’ sex toy collection,” another added, “including: ‘the way you f*ck, the way you taste’ tongue vibrator and – ‘miracle’ orgasm wand.”
The frontman Noah Sebastian is usually the one in the band to respond to fan backlash, but as of now, he hasn’t responded to the comments yet.
