Lacuna Coil vocalist Cristina Scabbia has addressed the issue of online harassment in a recent interview with Primordial Radio. The metal singer emphasized her active presence on social media and her direct approach to dealing with personal attacks.

“I’m very present online. I try to figure out what people are thinking about the record and [their] opinions,” Scabbia said. “I don’t mind if people like it or not. Obviously, I’m very happy if people like our music.”

“I don’t mind if the criticisms are touching personal aspects of musicians. If you’re listening to the record and you don’t like it, it’s fine. If you are saying something about me, my private life, or just, like — I don’t know — ‘I can’t stand her because this, this and that,’ I will reply you,” she added.

“So, yeah, you can attack Lacuna Coil. And you can attack Cristina Scabbia because Cristina Scabbia will stand up and reply and tell you that you’re a f*cking a**hole,” she continued. “And will do it not just for you, but for everyone else to read that you’re a f*cking a**hole.”

“So maybe next time you either change your tone or don’t say anything,” Scabbia concluded. “Because if you do it to me, I react. If you do it to someone who is not in the right mental state, this person could do something very bad. And you would be walking out there feeling, ‘Oh, I have a keyboard. I can write whatever the f*ck I want.’ No, that’s not exactly how it works.”

The band is preparing for a significant new release. This timing makes Scabbia’s strong stance against online harassment particularly notable.

Social Media Impact

Blabbermouth reports that Scabbia has expressed serious concerns about social media’s potential dangers. She specifically focuses on how these platforms can create unrealistic expectations and foster user inadequacy.

Scabbia has maintained a consistent message about social media’s impact. She emphasizes that its curated nature often presents a distorted version of reality that affects users’ mental well-being.

The Metal Voice confirms Lacuna Coil released their new album ‘Sleepless Empire’ on February 14, 2025. The record balances the band’s established sound with new musical elements.

The album takes a heavier direction that aligns with the band’s preferences. This approach maintains their signature style while pushing their sound forward.
