Lzzy Hale recently shared the anxiety she felt when Skid Row announced her as their guest vocalist for the final dates of their 2024 tour during a chat with Knotfest.

“I’m learning the songs and then they announce it, and I realize all at once that this is way bigger than just friends helping out friends,” the Halestorm vocalist, who filled in for Erik Grönwall, shared. “Because I’m hearing people come out of the woodwork, like, childhood friends of mine, my dad and all of his buddies and I got this overwhelming feeling of like, ‘Oh my God!’”

She explained her thoughts at the time, “Not only have they finally received my VHS audition from 1996 in the mail not only am I gonna get to live out my childhood dream, but—oh my gosh!—it’s becoming this event. I have to be the front person. I have to be the Sebastian Bach.”

“What am I gonna do with my hands? It’s also the first time I’ve ever done shows where I’m only singing ‘cause I’m usually playing to some capacity, either on piano or on guitar, throughout the night. So, it was just wild. I’m like, ‘Wow, I have to embody this.’ So, I did it up. I’m like, ‘I’m breaking out the leather pants. I’m going full on what I wanted to be when I was a teenager,’ which was a dude dressed up like a girl in a rock band.”

Hale first performed with Skid Row at Walker’s Bluff Casino Resort in Carterville, IL, on May 17. Rachel Bolan celebrated her after the show by saying she was ‘a beast on stage.’

The tour wrapped up at Hard Rock Live in Sacramento, CA, on June 1. While fans speculated that the singer might end up as a permanent member, she dismissed the rumors in a farewell post on Instagram.

“Even though this particular time in my life prevents me from committing to a permanent role in Skid Row… I am sending in my official request to the universe that we will be able to join forces again down the road,” her message read.

Lzzy Hale is now preparing for an upcoming tour with her band Halestorm, starting September 21.
