Max Cavalera recently shared that he might borrow Maynard James Keenan’s “Sessanta” tour concept for his own 60th birthday celebration, discussing the idea in an interview with Kerrang!.

The Nailbomb and Soulfly frontman expressed his admiration for how the Tool, Puscifer, and A Perfect Circle singer celebrated his milestone birthday with a collaborative tour.

“I loved how Maynard James Keenan celebrated his 60th birthday,” Cavalera said. “I’m very jealous of what Maynard did for his birthday [the Sessanta tour, featuring Primus, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle]. I went to the show in Phoenix and it was so fun. Everybody sang Happy Birthday to him, and he made it last a whole month – a month of happy birthdays.”

He went on to express interest in planning a similar event for his own upcoming milestone.

“Something like that would be cool to do, so I might borrow the idea when the time comes,” he added.

The scale of Keenan’s celebration helps explain why the concept appealed to Cavalera, whose career has been built around several influential bands and collaborations.

The Sessanta tour began in Boston on April 2, 2024, and concluded in New York on May 4. The run was organized as a shared bill featuring Primus, Puscifer, and A Perfect Circle.

The tour also expanded beyond its initial dates, with stops that included Raleigh, Los Angeles, Berkeley, Red Rocks, Chicago, and other cities. Its rotating three-band format gave Keenan an opportunity to celebrate his 60th birthday across a full series of shows rather than during a single event.

Cavalera was born on August 4, 1969, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He is 57 years old as of 2026, meaning his 60th birthday will arrive in 2029.

He co-founded Sepultura with his brother Igor Cavalera in 1984 and remained the band’s frontman until his departure in the mid-1990s. He later formed Soulfly, contributed to the short-lived Nailbomb project, and reunited with Igor for Cavalera Conspiracy.

Cavalera remains associated with Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy while continuing his work across multiple metal projects. No specific dates or lineup have been announced for a Sessanta-style celebration, but his history with several bands could give him plenty of material for a similarly wide-ranging event.
