Stryper frontman Michael Sweet shared a new post revealing his suggestion for who should be the new Quiet Riot singer after the band announced that it had officially found its new vocalist but had not revealed the name.

Sweet named John Torra as his pick, writing: “Obviously it’s not my band but if it was, I’d pick this guy [John Torra] in a heart beat! He’s young, a great singer (technically even better than Kevin in some ways) and nails the vibe and tone. He’d bring a freshness to the band. And some new fans. Including me.”

Sweet’s endorsement comes as Quiet Riot prepares to introduce its latest vocalist and begin another chapter in the band’s long history of lineup changes.

Quiet Riot said in an announcement,“We’re excited to announce that we have officially welcomed our new vocalist into the band! He will make his live debut with us this October, and we’ll be revealing his identity very soon. In the meantime, we’d like to give a huge thank you to our longtime friend Jason McMaster, who will be stepping in on vocals for two upcoming shows: August 29 – Tower, MN, September 5 – Uncasville, CT. We’re incredibly grateful to Jason for jumping in and helping us keep these shows on the books for our fans. The next chapter has officially begun. Stay tuned. The big announcement is coming soon.”

The singer grew up around the New York club scene through his father, who performed with the band Lace. Torra has also discussed his own connection to the group Torah, which influenced his stage name and early musical development.

The singer led Quiet Riot for most of the band’s career, returning to the group in 1993 after an earlier departure. DuBrow died in November 2007, leaving the band without the frontman who had defined its best-known era.

Quiet Riot continued after DuBrow’s death with several different singers. The band’s documented lineup history includes vocalists such as Mark Huff, Scott Vokoun, Seann Nicols and James Durbin, reflecting the group’s continuing effort to remain active under the Quiet Riot name.

The band later released Quiet Riot 10 in 2014. It was the first Quiet Riot studio album without DuBrow contributing vocals since 1988 and the first to feature no original members.

Quiet Riot has remained active on the road in 2026. The band’s official tour updates show multiple scheduled appearances, while recent lineup information has identified Rudy Sarzo, Alex Grossi, Jizzy Pearl and Johnny Kelly as key members of the touring lineup.

Quiet Riot recently announced that its new vocalist will make a live debut in October, although the singer’s identity has not yet been disclosed. Jason McMaster is set to handle vocals for the August 29 show in Tower, Minnesota, and the September 5 concert in Uncasville, Connecticut, before the band reveals its new frontman.
